Energy Saving Lamps from Elektrox for the ESL Grow

In this category you will find our grow energy saving lamps (CFL) from Elektrox with a power of 85 W, 125 W or 200 W. The lamps are available with optimized light spectrum for the growth phase and for the flowering phase. Likewise, there are dual variants, which are applied in both phases. However, for best results, it is recommended to first use an CFL grow lamp with growth spectrum (6500K), and later one with blossom spectrum (2700K).

Advantages of grow energy saving lamps

- built-in ballast: The ballast here is already built into the socket of the lamp, so no external VSG is necessary.
- E40 base: Thanks to the E40 base, the lamps fit into any existing E-40 sockets, for example, from reflectors.
- hardly any heat: energy-saving lamps run in contrast to HPS or MH lamps not hot. Thus, less exhaust air is needed in the growroom and the energy-saving lamp can be hung close to the plants.
- so installation and operation of energy saving lamps are very easy to do.
- grow CFLs have a long life (about 10,000 hours).
- they are also well suited as additional light sources to illuminate shadow areas in the grow box or grow room.

Disadvantages of grow energy saving lamps

- energy-saving lamps are sensitive: the light tube itself should never be touched, as grease stains can negatively affect the life of the lamp in operation. Likewise, the lamps can easily break if they are not touched at the base but at the luminous tube when screwing in.
- lower light intensity compared to HPS or MH lamps.
- similar purchase price as HPS or MH lamps.
- design-related suboptimal utilization of the luminous surfaces.

Which power is needed for which surface?

This depends on the specific setup and previous experience. We recommend as a guideline:

60 x 60 cm: 125 watts CFL or 2x 85 watts CFL
80 x 80 cm: 200 watts CFL or 2x 125 watts CFL

For larger areas, the use of a different light source such as LEDs is recommended due to the lower depth effect of CFLs.
