Giant Redwood - a giant without equal
Giant redwoods (Sequoioideae) originate from California and live there for over 3000 years. At 95 metres, the giant redwood does not grow quite as high as the coast redwood in its native country, but forms a mightier crown and a thicker trunk. Here, too, sequoias can grow up to 30 metres high and very old. In the first 2-3 years, you should protect the young tree from frost, but later it will not be affected by winter.

An old crop - cotton
Cotton is usually grown in huge fields and used to make textiles. However, it is also very suitable as a pot plant and can usually be induced to produce fruit. Cotton grows as a shrub about 50 cm high and bears yellow flowers from which black capsules later emerge. When these capsules are mature, they burst open and the cotton emerges.
Joshua Tree - an endangered species
The joshua tree is actually a palm lily (yucca) and is most common in the western USA, including Joshua Tree National Park. This plant got its unusual name from Mormons passing through, as its branches reminded them of the outstretched arms of Joshua, the biblical leader of the Israelites. Unfortunately, due to climate change, the continued existence of this species is highly endangered. Joshua trees are conditionally hardy, but should be protected and not too moist.
