Germination and Growing:
The seeds of this plant need temperatures between 22 and 25° to germinate. Until germination, the seeds should always be kept slightly moist, regardless of whether you pre-germinate them or germinate the seeds directly in or on growing soil. It is generally helpful to use a heated mini-greenhouse to increase the germination rate and to provide the seedlings with a favourable climate for their first growth phase. After about 2 weeks, you should be able to spot the first seedlings.
Wormwood - Medicinal Plant of the Antiquity
Wormwood was used as a remedy in the distant past. Whether to aid digestion, against headaches and inflammations or in the dark Middle Ages to protect against witches - all kinds of effects were attributed to wormwood. It is certain that an active ingredient of this herb, thujone, was used in the 19th century in the production of the highly intoxicating absinthe. The plant is very robust, grows up to one metre high and prefers nutrient-poor, rather dry soils with a high proportion of sand and clay. Wormwood reproduces via rhizomes and produces small yellow flowers in July. It is hardy, perennial and very pleasantly fragrant - an ideal plant for pots and herb gardens.
