- Flowering: June - September

Germination and Growing:
The seeds of this plant need temperatures between 22 and 25° to germinate. The seeds should always be kept slightly moist until germination. It doesn't matter whether you pre-germinate them or germinate the seeds directly in or on growing soil. It is generally helpful to use a heated mini-greenhouse to increase the germination rate and to provide the seedlings with a favourable climate for their first growth phase. After about 3 to 6 weeks you should be able to spot the first seedlings, when the young plants are about 10 cm tall you should transplant them into individual pots.
Butterflies' Favourite - The Chocolate Flower
The chocolate flower likes it sunny and warm, you can plant it in the garden or cultivate it in a pot. As the roots are hardy, the chocolate flower will sprout again in spring, and in a pot it can be overwintered indoors at 5 to 10°. Between June and September it bears pretty yellow flowers that smell intensely of chocolate. Butterflies love this smell and love to visit the chocolate flower - so you can enjoy not only this plant and its scent, but also the sight of its fluttering visitors. When choosing the soil/substrate, make sure it has good drainage properties and avoid waterlogging.
