Quaint outdoor Bonsai for experts.
The Japanese white pine (Latin: Pinus pentaphylla) is one of the most popular types of pine of all time. While the cultivation of full-sized versions of this tree in central or northern European climates can usually only be achieved by grafting (the shoot tips of the Japanese white pine are grafted onto the stump of a black pine), a Bonsai gardener can cultivate an impressive Japanese white pine by giving it some loving care, without any need for grafting.
In Japan, its country of origin, there are numerous cases where the tree has reached an age of up to 350 years. In our climate, the Japanese white pine can usually survive the winter without any problems, but only after the seedling stage.
