Highest pruning tolerance and a lot of ornamental value: Myrtle
Myrtle (Myrtus communis) is one of the most well known trees to originate in the Mediterranean region and is a classic that enjoys popularity in many regions. Some conservatories can serve as a home for these evergreen, nicely-scented trees.
Myrtle is especially well-suited for bonsai cultivation as they have a high tolerance for even intensive pruning, so with enough care and patience, you can create a bonsai in a few short years that looks like it has been around for centuries.
Between July and August (in a conservatory), Myrtle bears white, aromatic flowers that mature into dark-red, almost black berries in autumn.
Usage: Indoor. Outdoor also possible from May to September, store indoors during winter.
